Courses
CERT IV IN AVIATION OPERATION
(COMMERCIAL PILOT AIRPLANE LICENCE)
Duration:
Up to 36 weeks of full time study
Note: the course length can be affected by weather.
The Course:
The curriculum is based on the Commercial Pilot Licence (CASA approved
syllabus) together with the associated ground examinations syllabus plus
competency units to underpin the knowledge required for the award of the
Certificate and the licence.
Outcomes:
Private Pilot Licence (PPL); Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL); aircraft
endorsements for the Tomahawk, Tobago, Cessna 152 and 172sp , Liberty XL2
and Beechcraft Duchess. Certificate IV in Transport and Distribution (Aviation
Flight Operations); Aircraft and simulator training totaling a minimum 175
hours.
Training Components consist of a minimum of:
20 hours cross country flight time as pilot in command (PIC)
10 hours instrument flight time
70 hours pilot in command flight time
7 commercial theory papers and examinations plus 4 internal theory examinations
15 Competency units for the award of the Certificate IV
408 hours of academic theory
DIPLOMA OF AVIATION
Pre-Requisite Competence:
TDA40107 CERT IV IN AVIATION OPERATION (COMMERCIAL PILOT AIRPLANE LICENCE)
Duration:
Up to 12 weeks of full time study
Note: the course length can be affected by weather.
The Course:
Initial curriculum is based on the Multi-Engine Command Instrument Rating
(MECIR) with IREX theory
Outcomes:
Aircraft endorsement for the Beechcraft Duchess, a twin engine aircraft; SECIR
and or MECIR*; Diploma of Aviation; aircraft and simulator training up to 55
hours (a total of 220 hours (minimum) including 175 CPL hours)
*dependant on the students standard after 15 hours mutli-engine time;
assessment made by the CFI
Training Components consist of a minimum of:
20 hours in a CASA approved flight training device (commonly referred to as a
flight simulator)
15 hours minimum Multi-Engine instruction
The Instrument Rating Exam (IREX) theory course
268 hours of academic theory
Please note –
additional flying hours are programmed into the course to satisfy the different
flight hour requirements of the various aviation regulatory bodies around the
world for licence conversions.
New Theory Courses
BAK
Courses
These run every month and feature part-time study to allow you time for flying.
It’s a 3-week course, running Monday -Friday from 0900-1200. The course fee
includes all your tuition, and four exams; Circuit Solo, Training Area Solo,
FROL and BAK, but excludes study materials.
Cost:
$500 + GST
CPL
Courses
Includes all 7 CPL subjects over 5 months. Again, part-time study to allow you
time to complete your flying. Courses vary in duration and run Wednesday –
Friday from 1300-1700. The course fee includes all your tuition, but excludes
study materials and ASL exam fees.
Cost:
$500 + GST per course or $3,250 for the full set when paid in advance. (Save
$250)
IREX Course
Runs 4
times a year, part-time study to allow you time to complete your flying. Course
runs Wednesday – Friday from 1300-1700. The course fee includes all your
tuition, but excludes study materials and ASL exam fees.
